The Backyard Project

As I have previously mentioned, Jason has been working very hard on our backyard.  He took 3 days off work and stayed outside until 10 or 11 each night trying to finish everything up.  He expanded our rock patio, poured a polymeric sand (supposed to cure like concrete) in between the cracks, tilled up the yard, raked up everything, leveled the yard, and had it hydromulched.

This is the yard the morning the hydromulch was put down

Patio prior to filling in the cracks

I would like to re-paint this table and chairs sometime
If only we had a privacy fence... our neighbors just let the weeds grow rampant

 See what I mean?

Houston, we have growth!  I hope this is what it's supposed to look like.
And this my friends, is the intricate workings of my husband's mind.  Five water hoses that lead to five different sprinklers strategically placed throughout the yard.  Each one has to be turned on for 15 minutes four times a day.  Southern engineering is what you do when you can't afford an automatic sprinkler system.

Next up, save up $115 to get a new back door.  The previous owners had two Doberman Pinschers that not only destroyed the yard, but the door and part of the outside of the house, too.  Jason said he could just paint it, but to be quite honest, I'm pretty sure it's days are numbered.

  1. Wow! Jason has been working hard. Your backyard is looking great! I can't wait until we have our own house and can do things like this.

  2. The yard is looking very nice! I am jealous of your patio. The "sprinkler system" made both me and my husband lol - only because it looks just like something he (my dh) would do!
