It's A Girl!

Today was our first sonogram to finally get to see our baby! We now know our little one is a very active and flexible little girl! She was moving around everywhere. You can see her little feet and little girl parts in the ultrasound pictures. It maybe a little hard to tell but in some of them she has a thumbs up (an Aggie fan already according to her Daddy), she's got her hand on her nose, her knee in her face, and her hand on her butt in another one!

She weighs 11oz and is almost the size of a coke can. Our sonogram tech thought we oughta play 11 in the lottery since she's 11 oz and due on 11/11/2009. They got pictures and measurements of her head, brain, stomach, kidneys, and heart. Everything looks good. Once we saw her little brain on the screen we knew right away she was a girl! My dad and Lori met us there so they could see her on the screen. They were really excited too.

Following the sonogram I had an appointment with Dr. Appel. Everything looked good there too. My blood pressure was 104/62, and I had lost 2 pounds. The baby's heart rate was about 150bpm this time. My doctor wasn't concerned about the weight loss. She said that just happens sometimes. She told me I will need to stop every 2 hours or so to get out and walk around when we drive to and from Missouri this weekend. It is going to be so hot up there and I have already been miserably hot here. I am not looking forward to next couple of months of being HOT to say the least!

Felt My Baby Move

I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move yesterday morning at work. I kept telling my co-worker, Kristie that something was going on in my belly because it was feeling weird and I felt some pressure in there. Well, I was on my way to the bathroom (as usual) and just then I felt this kind of swoosh or something. I think the baby must have turned a somersault in there and I literally said out loud to myself, "oh my God, What was that!?!" So I went back out and told Kristie what happened, and that I was pretty sure the baby was moving around in there. I sent Jason a text message saying I felt the baby move and he texted me back saying "My girl is a kicker." He is already calling our baby a little girl so that he doesn't get his hopes up for a boy, I think. Well, we will know for sure what our little one is in just a few days.....and then the shopping can begin! I haven't bought ANY baby clothes at all! Check back for the update from the doctor's appointment and sonogram on Wednesday!

A Picture Says A Thousand Words

We picked up our baby furniture today, and Jason put it together. We really didn't want to get the furniture in there until it was painted and finished, but we really had no other choice because we didn't have anywhere else to store the furniture since we are already storing some furniture in our garage that we are trying to sell. We thought we'd leave it at the store a while longer but I guess Babies R Us didn't want to be responsible for it because they kept calling to tell us it was in.

So the furniture is put together but at this point, the baby room still needs a lot of help. We aren't quite sure exactly where all the furniture is going to ultimately end up but the pictures you see are of the actual finished piece of furniture itself. The armoire was a piece that we already had and decided to keep in the baby's room. The stuff hanging on the walls needs to be relocated to its new home in the guest bedroom which I am hoping will happen tonight. I hope to get some pictures up of that room also. As you can see in the pictures, Jason had some help this afternoon and it wasn't really from me. While Riley prefers to help him in the yard, Possum was his assistant today.

Just to get you up to speed...

Mommy View

I am just rocking right along in my pregnancy! I've been feeling pretty good for the most part with the exception of having quite a few headaches, allergies, and being thirsty ALL the time which means more bathroom breaks! The countdown is on for my big ultrasound to find out if our baby is a girl or a boy. Only 12 more days! I am ready to find out so that I can start getting some baby clothes! I had to get a few new clothes for myself because I seem to be rapidly expanding. Lori came over last Saturday and we went shopping. She bought me a few maternity shirts that are very comfortable! We all have to wear matching scrubs at work and I have finally gotten to the point where I am busting out of my green and purple scrubs tops. I put the bella band on to try to cover up my belly the day I had to wear green, but I eventually had to go home and change into a maternity top. I went up to the fire station and Jason said "that just popped up overnight!"

Our baby really likes pizza. I have never wanted to eat pizza so much before in my life! I wished it liked salads and more fiber-rich foods more than all that cheese and bread! We will be leaving in 2 weeks to go to Missouri for a family reunion. Unfortunately we will be driving and I have to stop more times than others would probably like to. I will definitely post a new blog update after my sonogram appt. In the meantime, here are the newest pictures taken at 18 weeks and 2 days.
